When it comes to folding bed linen in a hotel to optimise space, there are various techniques and methods for storing sheets, blankets and pillows in a compact and organised way. Here are a few tips to help you maximise space when folding hotel bed linen.
Folded sheets with elastic bands
A practical method for folding sheets is to use elastic bands to hold them in place. Start by laying the sheet out on a flat surface and folding it lengthways into thirds. Then fold it in three widthways again. Place an elastic band at each end to keep the sheet neatly folded and compact. This technique allows you to store sheets evenly and keep them in place in storage areas.
Narrow pleats
To save space, it's best to make narrow folds when folding sheets. Start by laying the sheet out on a flat surface and folding it in half lengthways. Then fold it in half again in the same direction. Continue making narrow folds until you get the size you want. This way, you can store several sheets on top of each other without taking up too much space.
Wrapping blankets
For thicker blankets, it may be useful to wrap them rather than fold them. Lay the blanket flat and fold one end towards the centre. Then fold the other end of the blanket so that it overlaps slightly with the first folded end. Roll the blanket up tightly, as you would a sleeping bag, to keep it compact and tidy. This method reduces bulk and optimises storage space.
Stacking pillows
For pillows, stack them in an organised way, aligning them evenly. Place the pillows on top of each other, making sure they are centred and straight. If you have several stacks of pillows, use fabric or plastic dividers between the stacks to keep them in place and prevent them from tipping over. This saves space and keeps the pillows tidy.
